Hey guys! Your makeup rookie a.k.a yours truly is back with yet another beauty post! My daily makeup routine is rather boring, just some eyeliner, blusher, lipstick and I'm done. Prior to this, I've never really put on eyeshadow because I didn't know how, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard from Criz that KANEBO Kate was holding a summer beauty workshop! You see, I basically look the same as every other Malaysian girl on the street, the reason being.. our makeup! As our climate is basically summer-y all year round, we don't really follow makeup trends, therefore we only use... neutral colors, or go matchy-matchy with our clothes. I've always been looking for a way to stand out and look more vibrant but I'm not very adventurous nor do I want to be labeled as a freak who wears weird colors. So I'm a really happy girl to have been able to attend this workshop last saturday at Eurodeli Beirgarten, Gurney Plaza!
We took our seats and got a chance to get a feel of the products, and then we cleansed our face with Freshel Cleansing Lotion - an oil free lotion that serves as a makeup remover, cleanser and pore cleanser. The best part? No rinsing required! Then, we applied Whitening Gel (also from the Freshel range) which is a 5-in-1 product - Lotion + Essence + Emulsion + Cream + Moisturising Makeup Base , very time saving & rather suitable for people like me who don't have much time to prepare! (I was so very tempted to snag em home!)
Reknowned celebrity makeup artist Steven Sunny was our makeup guru for the workshop. He has worked with celebs such as Pussycat Dolls and Karen Mok, to name a few.
Some of the KATE products on the table
Initially, I've used some of Kate's products myself, introduced by my bestie Jolene. Since then, I've become avid user of their Slim Gel Pencil Liner, until it ran out and I decided to explore other brands instead! Anyways, back to our topic here - one of the bloggers volunteered to be the makeup model, where Steven Sunny would demonstrate a daily look on half of her face.
Something that made an impression on me : he said that "世界上没有丑女人，只有懒女人" which basically means that there are no ugly women in the world, just lazy ones. It’s a very common saying, but he decided to convince us by showing us the difference makeup makes!
Spot the difference! Amazing, right? Instantly, she looks more refreshed and alert,
Then, it was our turn to try out what we learnt in a hands-on session. We got to use KATE's new spring/summer 2014 range of spotlighting shadows, I personally loved it because it was shimmery but not too overwhelming!
While we're at it, Let me share you a #selfie secret I learnt from Steven Sunny. Apparently, lining our lashline will make our eyes look fuller and more 'visually appealing', therefore our selfies will be more attractive from any angle as well. ( If you know this already I'm sorry, because this is a new discovery for me T.T)
So here's my final look :
How did I fare? Personally I think I did pretty well, just my butter fingers might have been a little heavy on the blusher on my left cheek :/
Some products that I used and particularly loved :
I also used their Spotlighting Shadow in PK-1, Super Sharp Liner S and Slim Gel Pencil on my eyes, which I plan to get for myself soon!
Honestly, I loved every moment of the workshop because it was really fun & upbeat, Steven Sunny had us all laughing and having a good time while we were learning how to be beautiful. It's a great first experience for me!
We also got goody bags!
In case you're wondering, the quick remake liquid is for touch ups! It helps reduce oil shine and "remakes" your foundation.
