#HealthyLunchbox Review : Dah Makan

Hi y'all :)

I'm sure most office folks would understand my woes - the food options in my area have always been limited. I was constantly craving for something other than local food takeaway.. and was getting bored of taking trips to Batai (under the scorching hot sun for an overpriced meal , mind you ) down the road, where the only redeeming factor there is Yellow Brick Road :p ; and food trucks.. :/

Of course, there's always the home-cooked/leftover dinner option, but I decided to give boyfie a break (kesian lah, seeing the amount of prep and cooking effort he puts into each meal ) ; So when I stumbled on this article on hype.my , I hopped onto their respective websites and spent some time deliberating my choices. Like i said previously , I wanted to try some new flavors that didn't seem too local.

While exploring Dah Makan's website - I found what i wanted . They had a vast range of ever changing menus, inspired by their travels abroad - which might explain the western influence in their ingredients and cooking styles ; but what appealed to me initially was their website . It had a nice and clean layout , and there was a chat box! Every time i re-visited it they'd ask if I needed help. Also, It was effortlessly easy to make an order.

I ordered my first two boxes together - Chicken Meatballs with Cous Cous Moroccan Style for Tuesday; Organic buckwheat soba with Spicy Grilled Prawn for Thursday . But... I fell sick Monday night and had to cancel my order. A quick apologetic text to Jessica was all it took to cancel my lunchbox for the day - didn't stop me from self-bashing a little for falling sick though. :p

Naturally, when Thursday came by I was really excited to get to work because I could finally try the lunchbox I ordered! I received an email detailing the estimated time of delivery, and a text from the delivery guy 5 minutes before arrival .

Pretty on the outside, Healthy on the inside :D

Judging by my insta-posts (for those who follow me), the food presentation is lovely too! Not what one would expect, seeing that it's a lunch box! I won't lie , was a little tentative about the soba because there wasn't any sauce included, but I was pleasantly surprised ! The noodles had just the right amount of bite and flavour .. and I really enjoyed the whole meal ! Wasn't bothered at all by the coriander, which comes as a surprise because I usually pick em out and leave them aside .. :p

My second lunch box that I received from them - Friday's order
Friday (Fri-yay!) 's order was a first for me . I'd never had anything like it before , so I didn't know what to expect. Furthermore, I'm not really a vege person.. So I got a little worried that I wouldn't like it. But oh, I did. The roasted chicken was perfect, wasn't too dry and the corn went really well with everything ! It was really filling too, I didn't really feel the need for dinner, even.

Needless to say, I ordered it again the following week, together with Deirdre - my fellow intern . Wednesday's menu was Honey Mustard Chicken with Cauliflower Mash (which sounded really good!) Gave her a referral code so we got an RM10 discount , yayers!

The chicken & the dressing was perfect - but the cauliflower garlic mash ... meh. I think they added vinegar to it which IMHO.. didn't turn out well :/ Anyhoos.. I still enjoyed it to a certain extent . :p

Few other colleagues are jumping on the Dah Makan bandwagon now, and three of us girls ordered for Thursday - Grilled Lamb Skewers with Herby Couscous and Grilled Vegetables (that's a mouthful!). We've yet to eat it.. But somehow I know that they won't disappoint .(yes, I'm a die hard fan now)

To end this post, I'm dropping this link : https://dahmakan.app.link/oi8KWUhM2y
Which entitles an RM10 off your next order! :)

They say sharing is caring, because seriously - to eat & feel good at the same time?
I'll let you be the judge :)
